Carved from an abandoned quarry through volunteer labour, this is a stunning garden, showcasing the plants that flourish in our subtropical climate. It has taken 16 years of sheer hard work and community dedication to grow Whangarei Quarry Gardens into their current form. The Gardens are set over 60 acres and feature a lake, waterfalls, picnic areas, forest walks, a variety of gardens styles, and several historical remnants of it's quarrying days are still scattered over the property. In the grounds is the wonderful Quail Cafe (open Wed-Sun) with freshly baked and prepared food and a great pot of tea or coffee.
